Insert the privacy text automatically
An element in your privacy policy shows the section on reactive.chat – matching your project settings, in the language of your page and always up to date.
Instead of copying the text block for your privacy policy and adapting it by hand, you can insert it automatically. You place one element in your privacy policy, and the section on reactive.chat appears there:
- matching your settings – whether the chat asks for consent before the first message, whether visitors can withdraw and delete themselves, how written deletion requests are handled, after how many days conversations are deleted, whether the AI assistant (and under which name) and Smart Answer are switched on;
- always up to date – when you change a setting, the changed text is on your page within ten minutes at most;
- without placeholders – no square brackets are left.
The text is a template, not legal advice.
The element
Put this where the section should appear in your privacy policy:
<div data-rc-privacy></div>
Requirement: the regular embed snippet is on that page too – as on every page where the chat appears. No further code is needed. You will find a copyable example in your account under Project → Embed → Insert the privacy text automatically, together with a preview of the text with your current settings.
Language, heading, contact address
<div data-rc-privacy data-lang="en" data-heading="2" data-email="privacy@your-domain.com"></div>
data-lang– the language:de,enorpl. Without it, the language of your page applies (<html lang="…">). Any other language shows English, the binding version.data-heading– the heading level,2to6. Default3(<h3>).data-email– your contact address. It appears as a link in the sentences where visitors are meant to reach you (withdrawal, your rights, questions about the AI assistant). Without it, those sentences refer to the contact details in your privacy policy.
The text takes on the design of your page: it consists of a heading and paragraphs, without colours or fonts of its own. Below the text it says that the English version is binding, and which version of the template it is.
Without consent, without storage
A privacy policy must be readable even when a visitor declines consent. The text therefore appears regardless:
- also without consent, and while your consent banner still holds the chat back,
- also when the chat does not load or is switched off.
Showing the text stores nothing in the browser (no cookie, no localStorage, no sessionStorage) and sends no visitor identifier. The browser only fetches the text; like with any file request, reactive.chat receives the visitor's IP address and the address of your website as the origin – but not the address of the individual page.
The text only appears on the websites entered as domains in your project.
If the text does not appear
- The embed snippet is missing on the page. It is also needed for the text. If your consent banner blocks the snippet on that page, or your site inserts the element only after loading (single-page app), also add the script from your account (Project → Embed → Insert the privacy text automatically):
<script src="https://cdn.reactive.chat/datenschutz.js" data-rc-site-key="YOUR_SITE_KEY" async></script>
- The website is not entered in the project. The text only appears on your project's domains.
- The project is paused. Then there is no text.
Whatever you write inside the element stays there until the text has loaded – and also if it cannot be loaded. You can, for example, put a link to the text block there.
The attribute data-rc-privacy-state on the element shows whether the text was loaded: done (shown), error (not loaded) or loading.
